GR9 Port Grimaud - Mont Ventoux

Salut,

I hope it's okay to post in english - i can't write french at all.

I'm going to follow the GR9 from Port Grimaud to the Mont Ventoux. Does anybody could give me some hints about which parts better not to try or better alternatives for parts of the GR?
Also I'm looking for a database of gites / refuges with GPS coordinates.
And is there a GPS track for the GR9 or parts of it anywhere?

I think you will find some help here but it will be better if you could speak and understand the Molière's language.

Utagawa pourrait-il fournir un traducteur officiel et ce en toutes les langues du Javanais au Pachtoun ou veut-il au contraire nous faire progresser dans la mixité linguistique.
Doit-on anticiper et imposer l'anglais comme la langue internationale pour le vtt ou garde-t-on l'esprit olympique de Coubertin avec la langue de Molière?
Et encore félicitations à celui qui s'y est collé quelle abnégation.
Quand je pense qu'il s'agit d'un voisin qui habite juste à 5 km tout au plus j'en suis pantois.
Je tenterais bien la même chose sur un site Anglais ou Ouzbèque pour voir la réactivité !
Pour autant Bienvenue à notre ami Steehl auquel je ne l'avais pas encore souhaitée.

for mapping, you can check the Garmin GPSTopo 3, the mapping settled on the Garmin GPS branded as Etrex Vista or GPSmap 60 and else.

Superbe ce Gérald que ce soit sur ce forum ou un autre toujours prêt à mettre ses connaissances au service des autres. Félicitations Gérald.
Si je demande la traduction avec un brin d'humour franchouillard c'est pour pouvoir aidé plus facilement car je suis un peu court niveau anglais et surtout pour répondre dans cette langue.

you have a nice audacious idea but be careful, I am not sure that "Gr" is the best way for a "VTT trip", it is often too much easy and annoying or too difficult...

Hi steehl,

you should take the _83 local guys polite warnings for very serious. The GR trails in the south of France are certainly not made for nordern mountain bikers pleasure. Some time ago, I read in a magazine a report of some hard guy's trip going from Valence to the Roc d'Azur. It must have been in Vélo Vert or VTT Magazine. As I'm no more finding that magazine, maybe someone else can help you with the corresponding article.

Bon, si quelqu'un aurait encore sous la main ce fameux trip allant de Valence au Roc, steehl pourrait se faire une bonne image du topo.

Ce n'est pas exactement le tracé car il passe loin du mont Ventoux par le nord par contre les étapes 8, 9, 10 des chemins de Stevenson Soit Saint Rémy de Provence--> Auron-->Vauvenargue--> Sainte Zacharie dans le var peuvent coincider mais un peu plus au sud.

Thanks to everyone and the help offered. Hopefully I understood everything right

What I'm basically going to do now is combine a lot of different tracks from this website more or less along the GR9. When looking on the maps it seems to be quite obvious that parts of the GR are not really fun on a bike....

@arbainais83: Is there a GPS track from your tour des chemins de Stevenson?

you're right, as far as I know, most of the time gites are fully booked. So it will be more efficient if you can book in advance.
